Prof. Zhou Yifu from Jilin University Invited to Deliver a Lecture in SIS

On November 2, 2020, Prof. Zhou Yifu, Dean of College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University, gave a lecture entitled "Reread Rain Won't" in Classroom 9701, No.9 Teaching Building, Yanta Campus. The lecture was hosted by Cao Ting, Deputy Dean of School of International Studies.

Prof. Zhou started the lecture by reading and explaining the poem Rain Won't written by the Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa. Then he unveiled the moral attitude and spirit between poem lines with introduction of Kenji's life experiences. In his opinion, though Rain Won't partakes hopelessness, the ending of the poem reflects Kenji's spirit of dedication to the public. Actually it also well mirrors Kenji's inner world after his aspiration for rural rejuvenation is shattered. Besides, Prof. Zhou Yifu mentioned Spring and Ashura, Fantasy Railroad in the Stars and other works, enabling audience to see that Kenji Miyazawa is romantic and idealistic, stubborn yet gentle and kind.

Finally, in the Q&A session, Prof. Zhou Yifu patiently answered the questions of teachers and students. He also urged freshmen to think more when learning the foreign language, and learn to use it flexibly by reading various literary works, so as to further broaden their horizon.
